by Jürgen Tschamler (25.03.2008) For long, much too long, we had to wait for a new Testament album. If you have seen one of the live shows of the original line-up in the last 16 months (okay, I consider them with the old Bay Area warhorse, Paul Bostaph, as original line-up, he deserves it), you’ll know that the harmony in the band is right again. That had a positive, no, in fact, an unbelievable effect on the new album, "The formation of damnation". While in the past, singer Chuck Billy had to cope with a lot of critics because of his vocal change towards Death Metal, he has finally returned to his strengths now and delivers an awesome performance. The guitar duo, Skolnick/Peterson presents a merciless riff blast highlighted in Thrash jewels, like "The persecuted won't forget", "The evil has landed" and "The formation of damnation". The driving forward "Henchman ride" is a fireworks of monstrous Thrash riffs and, yet, so incredibly groovy that it blows you away.
