Product description

The actor Jack Black (High Fidelity, School Of Rock) is divine - and this not only in themovies but also as a musician. His Rock project Tenacious D is a really great parody on all current Rock cliches with which no eye remains dry. 14 catchy tunes of the Tenacious D debut take the piss out of legions of Rock stars. Whoever does not laugh here, must be considered medically dead. Jack Black shall be seen shortly in the new Peter Jackson-product "King Kong" (No, he´s not playing the monkey!). And, besides that, in 2006 he brings the first Tenacious D film in the cinemas. Thanks, Jack!!!

Tenacious D consists of actor Jack Black ("High Fidelity") and his colleague Kyle Gass. Since 1994, the two have been around with acoustic guitars and a music/comedy show. They already had their own TV-show and at the moment they plan to produce a cinema film. Interrupted by some, partly silly "Cock pushups", partly absolutely absurd "Inward singing" radio plays, this is the definitively funniest Rock'n'Roll-persiflage since Spinal Tap. No matter if bombastic ("Tribute", "Wonderboy"), raw (like in the snotty "Explosivo") or subtle (á la "Fuck her gently") - the Californians present a load of highly amusing lyrics and catchy melodies. Of course, these songs are no filigree compositions, neither is the performance. But in every tone you can hear their fun. No wonder that you have some prominent guests on the album, such as Dave Grohl (drummer on almost all the songs) members of Phish and the Dust Brothers producing. (Oliver Kube - 05/03)
