Product description

At the turn of the millenium 1999/2000, HIM proved with release of "Razorblade romance" that their successful debut album was not only a flash in the pan, but the beginning of a persistent, international career. And this precisely because they have the courage to perform rather Pop-like songs like ,Join me in death´

by Matthias Mineur (null) That's the way it is with newcomer-bands: As soon as there is light at the end of the tunnel of years of arduous construction work, the problems start. Ville Valo can tell you about it - too close were he and his fellows in Him to the split of the band because of personal problems with the drummer and the keyboarder. Would have been a real pity as this new album impressively proves! "Razorblade romance" offers a mixture of hard guitars, driving drums and the melancholic vocals deep from the Gothic-terrain and reveals a number of great songs that should not only compete with Type O Negative. Centre of this Scandinavian gloom-rock is Valo himself, a colourful personality who'd like to be seen close to Jim Morrison. To help this case, Valo not only presents rocky songs ("Razorblade Kiss", "Resurrection"), but also appeals to the soul of his listeners. And since Him were also asked to participate on the soundtrack for Roland Emmerich's "The 13th Floor" ("Join Me"), there is little in the way for an international career.
