With the lockdown, OPETH mastermind Mikael Akerfeldt finally found the time to 'assemble a team of music nerds,' as he puts it, to ponder the question of how they could produce a Vinyl master of 'In Cauda Venenum' that sounds as outstanding as Akerfeldt's favorite records from the past. After heated discussions and trying out many different methods that never quite satisfied the Swedish master's ear, they transferred the album to magnetic tape and then cut the Vinyl lacquers themselves from the tape, creating a warm, powerful, and yet dynamic masterpiece.
This Remixed & Remastered version is now available in the form of their 'Connoisseur Edition' of In Cauda Venenum. There are few bands that can match Sweden's OPETH. Since their formation in the tiny Stockholm suburb of Bandhagen in 1990, the Swedes have disregarded all conventions, followed their own path, and have been able to release 13 stunningly beautiful, intense albums to become one of the biggest progressive rock/metal bands in the world. And they keep getting better, even after selling over two million records and even reaching number one on the German album charts with their 2016 album 'Sorceress'.
