Across the seven Linkin Park albums, they made an impact on modern rock which is undeniable. From their explosive debut to their hand in the reinvention of the nu-metal scene via mainstream, crossover success (who else could have collaborated with Jay Z and made an anthem for the masses and the metalheads?) to their determination to always push for more, they were an act who helped bridge the gap between radio play and metal, changing the landscape for rock everywhere.

Spurred on by the positive reception of their earlier releases, they would release the album Meteora in 2002 which landed, well, quite like a meteor. One of the most successful albums in the history of alternative rock, it includes legendary songs, such as Somewhere I Belong and Numb.

The band are still active today, but fans suffered a devastating loss in 2017. Lead singer from the band’s apex, Chester Bennington, died by suicide. A vocal advocate who never shied away from life’s dark truths – through their lyrics and his own personal bravery – Chester spoke candidly about depression. This is why their legacy endures. The band paved a way for a new sound to go mainstream but Linkin Park helped amplify a new voice – a vulnerable one, a rarity in the rock genre.
