The Californian band Avenged Sevenfold, also known as A7X for short, from Huntington Beach has been in the music business since 1999. The founding members of the metal band were Matt Shadows, Zacky Vengeance, The Rev and Matt Wendt. As an allusion to the story of the brothers Cain and Abel, the band got their name from a biblical background, although none of the boys hold religious views.
The debut album 'Sounding The Seventh Trumpet' was released in 2001. From this point on, things really started to take off for the band and they became a part of the metal music scene. In terms of subject matter, this metal band goes to great lengths to bring variety to the songs. There are songs that deal with love and death, but also that deal with despair. In addition, the boys do not shy away from criticising their home country and the US citizens.

Avenged Sevenfold: Dark Hours
This is not the title of a record, but a time that began on December 28th, 2009 with the death of James Owen Sullivan (aka. The Rev). The drummer's body was found lifeless in his California home that day.
The following year, the A7X drummer was found to have died from an overdose of prescription drugs combined with alcohol. His physical and musical families were present at his funeral and his best friend and fellow band member Synyster Gates gave a speech at his grave.
